Aria - Animated Musical Movie

What if the bugs that live in the walls of a recording studio were all secretly musicians?

For generations, the insects that inhabit the air ducts and walls of the world’s most famous recording studio had a front row seat to music history as it happened.

Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Ella Fitzgerald, and of course, The Beatles - they all recorded here at Capitol Studios, and the magic of those performances not only shaped how humans hear music, for those tiny creatures that were closest to the magic when it happened, the energy from those sessions actually shaped the way the bugs evolved. They are now a collection of mad musicians with their own hidden society, led by a female cricket called ARIA.

When our story begins, LEONARD BLUE (Think: A Barry Gordy/Quincy Jones mash-up), the wise old man who has been the brains behind the studio for decades, knows his end is near. For all this time, Leonard has been the one who could instantly spot real musical talent. He knew how to mold a musician’s ability into timeless recordings that changed the world.

But now, driven by the greed of GRANITE STUDIOS’S FRANZ VAN HAMMER, computers have taken over music creation. Live performance and real musical talent is in a state of jeopardy. Without Leonard’s guidance, the studio, and even more importantly, the heart and soul of real creation may be doomed to the wrecking ball.

While ARIA watches from the shadows above, Leonard, in his final gesture as the musical torchbearer, visits the studio before passing on to the other plane. Confronted by his own, as well as the studio’s demise, he sings out that a new torchbearer is needed – a new voice for the studio. Aria hears Leonard’s song, and despite always being told that female crickets do not sing, Aria embarks on the arduous quest to find her voice. With the help of her friends GAOSONG THE CHINESE RED CENTIPEDE, CHRIS THE CATAPILLER, and the guidance of a young female recording engineer named Billie, she overcomes all obstacles placed in front of her to find her true and glorious voice, saving the studio, and reminding the world of the beauty, heart and soul of true creativity!
